TITLE: Lead Mechanic
REPORTS TO: VP, Operations
LOCATION: Oxnard, CA
CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-Time
POSITION PURPOSE:
Reiter Affiliated Companies, an International Berry Company based in Oxnard, CA, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as an Lead Mechanic.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Mechanic will be responsible for directly managing technicians and resolving any service issues that arise on a day-to-day basis. The position will be responsible for scheduling service department work activities among technicians, monitors work for completeness and timeliness, responds to customer service scheduling needs. The position will be headquartered in Oxnard, CA and will report to the VP of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Accountable for performing repairs with higher level of responsibility.
Lead exemplary performance by providing proactive leadership role for the entire service department.
Responsible mentoring and training technicians within the service department.
Assist and support technicians in repair tasks such as removal, installation and repair of components/machines.
Perform tasks from verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisor and fellow employees.
Assume ownership of difficult customer issues while maintaining high level of credibility.
Responsible for effectively interacting with customers in a professional manner.
Responsible for possessing tooling required by the service department.
Accountable for demonstrating safe and proper application of hand, pneumatic and electric tools.
Responsible for carrying out duties and responsibilities according to safety guidelines and policies
Manage and maintain current forklift operator training certification.
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years experience in tractor/truck repair for both gas and diesel motors
Fluency in English and Spanish required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful.
Must demonstrate outstanding stewardship and relationship building/management skills to expand the mission of Reiter Affiliated Companies
Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation
Ability to create new and unique ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit a plus

Willingness to ask questions rather than just follow directions is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional travel to RAC offices, meetings and events
